Description
This 40 Year Balvenie is the seventh batch of the distillery's oldest regularly released bottling. Each new batch is built as the previous one runs low, and is focused around a careful blend of old sherry and bourbon casks from Balvenie in Speyside, Scotland.
Four decades in cask typically bring layered dried fruit, honeyed sweetness, polished oak and soft spice, with a silky texture and a very long, graceful finish. Specific flavors can vary by batch and bottling, so treat these notes as a guide to the style rather than a fixed profile.
Sip neat or with a few drops of water to open up the aromas; a tulip-shaped glass at room temperature is ideal. It pairs well with dark chocolate, nuts and mature cheese.
