Description
Basil Hayden's is a Kentucky straight bourbon built on a high-rye recipe, which gives it a light, gentle body and an approachable character. It is one of the most accessible bourbons for newcomers and a favorite for easy sipping.
The high rye content brings peppery spice, honey and dried fruit over a soft vanilla and caramel base, finishing clean and smooth without heavy heat. Bourbon must be made from at least 51 percent corn and aged in new charred oak, which is where its sweetness and vanilla character come from.
Serve neat or over a large cube to appreciate the grain and oak, or use it in an Old Fashioned, Manhattan or Whiskey Sour. It pairs well with smoked meats, dark chocolate and aged cheeses.
