Description
BenRiach Smoke Season is a Speyside single malt that shows a side of the distillery many people do not expect: intensely peated spirit. BenRiach has long made peated malt alongside its usual fruity, unpeated style, and Smoke Season is made entirely from peated malt, then matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and charred American virgin oak. It is bottled at 52.8% ABV.
The smoke arrives first, soft and sweet rather than medicinal, followed by caramel, cinnamon, roasted apple and a touch of charred orange peel. The finish is long and smoky with a gentle sweetness that keeps the peat balanced.
Sip it neat or with a few drops of water. It also works as a bridge bottle for drinkers who enjoy bourbon and are curious about peated Scotch.
