Description
Benromach Sassicaia is a single malt Scotch from the Benromach distillery in Forres, Speyside, finished in casks that previously held Sassicaia, the Tuscan red wine. The wine-cask finish adds a layer of red-fruit character to the distillery's gently smoky house style.
Expect malt, toffee and orchard fruit with red-berry and spice notes from the wine casks, and a touch of Benromach's characteristic smoke on the finish. Specific flavors can vary by batch and bottling, so treat these notes as a guide to the style rather than a fixed profile.
Sip neat or with a few drops of water to open up the aromas; a tulip-shaped glass at room temperature is ideal. It pairs well with dark chocolate, nuts and mature cheese.
