Description
Buffalo Trace Kosher Straight Rye is a cRc-certified kosher straight rye whiskey from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is crafted under the supervision of the Chicago Rabbinical Council and aged seven years in dedicated kosher barrels, then bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV). Note that it is not certified kosher for Passover.
The distillery describes the spice of rye with hints of citrus and clove. Expect a drier, brisker pour than bourbon, with caramel and vanilla in support and a medium finish that stays peppery and warm.
It works neat or on the rocks, but it really shines in classics like the Manhattan, the Sazerac or an old fashioned, where the spice stands up to sweet vermouth and bitters.
