Description
The Dalmore 14 Year is a Highland single malt from the distillery in Alness, founded in 1839, whose royal stag emblem comes from the Mackenzie clan crest. It is matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks and then finished in rare, aged Pedro Ximenez sherry casks from González Byass, and is bottled at 43.8% ABV.
The nose shows warm honey, Seville orange zest, rich raisins and allspice. The palate brings figs, dates, toasted hazelnuts, roasted coffee and maple syrup, and the finish carries dark fruit, liquorice, marmalade and cocoa.
Pour it neat or with a few drops of water after dinner. The orange and cocoa notes also pair nicely with dark chocolate or a cigar.
