Description
GlenAllachie 13 Year Madeira Wood Finish is a Speyside single malt bottled exclusively for ImpEx Beverages in the USA. The whisky spent more than eleven years in American oak before being finished in Madeira barriques that once held Malvasia wine, adding a wine-toned layer to the distillery's style under Billy Walker.
The distillery describes vanilla, apricot and plantain on the nose, with treacle, peaches, almonds, grapefruit and pineapple on the palate. The Malvasia casks add a tropical-fruit sweetness, and the finish is soft and lingering. It is bottled at natural color and non-chill filtered.
Sip it neat or with a few drops of water. The sweet fruit character pairs nicely with dried fruit, nuts or a mild blue cheese.
