Description
Kentucky Vintage Sour Mash is a small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon made using the sour mash process, in which some of the previous batch's mash is used to start the next one. It is produced by Willett.
Expect caramel, vanilla and toasted oak with a touch of grain spice, and a smooth, medium-bodied finish. This description reflects the typical sour mash bourbon style. Bourbon is made from at least 51 percent corn and matured in new charred oak, which is where much of the vanilla, caramel and toasted wood character comes from.
Pour it neat or over ice, or use it as the base of a Manhattan or Old Fashioned. A splash of water or a single large cube can open up the aromas, and it pairs well with barbecue, smoked meats, aged cheddar or dark chocolate.
