Description
Legent is a Kentucky straight bourbon that is partially finished in wine and sherry casks. It is a collaboration between Fred Noe of Jim Beam and Suntory's Shinji Fukuyo, who combine American and Japanese whisky-making approaches.
Expect caramel and vanilla from the bourbon, with dried fruit and a gentle sweetness from the wine and sherry cask finish, and a smooth, rounded finish. Bourbon is made from at least 51 percent corn and matured in new charred oak, which is where much of the vanilla, caramel and toasted wood character comes from.
Sip it neat or over ice, or use it in an Old Fashioned or Manhattan. A splash of water or a single large cube can open up the aromas, and it pairs well with barbecue, smoked meats, aged cheddar or dark chocolate.
