Description
Lot 40 is a Canadian rye whisky made in small batches in a copper pot still, from 100 percent rye. It is known for a spicy, flavorful style that is distinct from lighter Canadian whiskies.
Expect rye spice, pepper and cinnamon, with baked fruit and vanilla and a long, dry finish. Rye whiskey is made from at least 51 percent rye grain, which gives it a drier, spicier profile than most bourbons.
It works well neat, over ice or in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned. A splash of water or a single large cube can open up the aromas, and it pairs well with charcuterie, aged cheese or dark chocolate.
