Description
Louis de Valandraud is the second wine of Château Valandraud, one of Saint-Émilion's original "garagiste" estates founded by Jean-Luc Thunevin. A Right Bank Bordeaux blend led by Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers the plush, polished style that made Valandraud famous — at a far more approachable price.
Expect a deep ruby pour and a generous nose of black cherry, plum, cocoa and sweet spice drawn from ageing in French oak. The palate is round and velvety, with ripe dark fruit, fine-grained tannins and a long, savory finish.
Drinking well now, it will also reward several years in the cellar. Serve at 60–64°F and decant about an hour before pouring.
