Description
The Macallan M sits at the top of the distillery's range, presented in a Lalique crystal decanter designed by Fabien Baron. It is a marriage of mostly sherry-seasoned oak casks.
Expect dried fruit, vanilla and citrus on the nose, with rich raisin, orange and dark chocolate on the palate, and a long, sweet, rounded finish. Scotch whisky must be matured in oak for at least three years in Scotland, and the type of cask used plays a large part in shaping the final flavor.
Sip it neat. It is one of Macallan's flagship luxury expressions and a collector's piece. A few drops of room-temperature water can open up the aroma, and it pairs well with dark chocolate, smoked salmon or aged cheese.
