Description
This Macallan is presented in a hand-crafted Lalique crystal decanter, part of the distillery's collaboration with the French crystal house. It is a rare, sherry-influenced Speyside single malt.
Expect antique oak, dried fruit and dark sugar on the nose, with deep sherry, chocolate and warm spice on the palate, and a very long finish. Scotch whisky must be matured in oak for at least three years in Scotland, and the type of cask used plays a large part in shaping the final flavor.
Sip it neat. It is a collector's piece as much as a whisky. A few drops of room-temperature water can open up the aroma, and it pairs well with dark chocolate, smoked salmon or aged cheese.
