Description
Maker's Mark is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon that uses soft red winter wheat instead of rye, producing a soft, smooth and slightly sweet whiskey. It is made in Loretto, Kentucky.
Expect caramel and vanilla, with a touch of fruit, some oak and a smooth, warm finish. Bourbon is made from at least 51 percent corn and matured in new charred oak, which is where much of the vanilla, caramel and toasted wood character comes from.
Pour it neat or over ice, or mix it in an Old Fashioned, a Mint Julep or a Whiskey Sour. A splash of water or a single large cube can open up the aromas, and it pairs well with barbecue, smoked meats, aged cheddar or dark chocolate.
