Description
Martell VSOP is a cognac from Martell, one of the oldest Cognac houses, in the VSOP grade, bottled in 750ml.
Typical of a VSOP cognac, expect riper fruit such as apricot and baked apple, vanilla and toasted oak, with a rounder, longer finish than a VS. Cognac is double-distilled in copper pot stills and aged in French oak, which gives it the fruit-forward, floral character that sets it apart from other brandies. Grade matters: VS is aged at least two years, VSOP at least four and XO at least ten, so older grades are generally richer and more layered.
Serve neat or over ice, or use it in a Sidecar, Sazerac or a simple cognac and ginger ale highball.
