Description
Montgomerie's is an independent bottler that sources single cask Scotch whiskies and bottles them without chill filtration or added color. This 23-year-old expression has matured slowly in oak for over two decades.
Expect honeyed malt, dried fruit and soft spice, with a deep, rounded character and a long finish. Scotch whisky must be matured in oak for at least three years in Scotland, and the type of cask used plays a large part in shaping the final flavor.
Sip it neat or with a drop of water. It is a good dram for those who appreciate the character that long aging brings. A few drops of room-temperature water can open up the aroma, and it pairs well with dark chocolate, smoked salmon or aged cheese.
