Description
Select Aperitivo is a bitter-sweet Venetian aperitivo created in 1920, best known as a base for the Spritz, a staple of the Prosecco aperitif tradition.
Expect a deep red color, aromas of orange peel and herbs, and a bittersweet palate with a dry, appetite-stimulating finish. It is lighter and more herbal than many other Italian bitters. As with most liqueurs, the flavor is concentrated and sweet, so a small pour or a splash in a cocktail goes a long way.
The classic serve is the Select Spritz: three parts Prosecco, two parts Select, a splash of soda, over ice with a green olive. Store it upright in a cool, dark place; once opened it keeps well for many months. The 1L bottle offers extra volume for regular mixing and entertaining.
