Description
Widow Jane Rye Mash Apple is a rye whiskey from Widow Jane in Red Hook, Brooklyn. It starts from the same base as the brand's American Oak rye and adds an apple wood stave finish that imparts bright apple notes and a subtle sweetness.
Traditional ryes can be peppery or brash, but this one is soft and fruity, built on the rounder flavor of American oak. It is non-chill filtered and proofed with mineral water from the Rosendale limestone mines in the Hudson Valley, which coats the palate for a long, rich finish.
The gentler profile works well in cocktails like an Apple Manhattan or Old Fashioned, and is easy to sip neat or on the rocks. This 375ml bottle is a handy size.
