Description
Código 1530 Extra Añejo is a 100% blue agave tequila aged in French oak barrels previously used for Napa Valley red wine, a signature of the Código 1530 house style. The extended aging and wine-cask influence give it a character closer to a fine cognac or aged whiskey than a typical tequila. Expect agave, dark fruit and oak on the nose, with rich caramel, berry and spice from the wine barrels on the palate, finishing long, smooth and complex. An extra añejo is aged for more than three years, the longest aging category for tequila, and the extra time in wood builds real depth.
Sip it slowly and neat, with a few drops of water if you like, alongside dark chocolate or a cigar-style after-dinner pairing. A good pick for collectors and for anyone marking a milestone.
