Description
James E. Pepper Straight Bourbon is a straight bourbon from the revived James E. Pepper brand, a name that goes back to Kentucky's early whiskey-making families. Straight bourbon is aged in new charred oak and contains no added color or flavoring.
Expect the classic bourbon profile of caramel, vanilla and toasted oak, with a touch of grain spice and a warm, lingering finish. Exact tasting notes will vary by batch. Bourbon is made from at least 51 percent corn and matured in new charred oak, which is where much of the vanilla, caramel and toasted wood character comes from.
Pour it neat or over ice, or use it as the base for an Old Fashioned, Mint Julep or Whiskey Sour. A splash of water or a single large cube can open up the aromas, and it pairs well with barbecue, smoked meats, aged cheddar or dark chocolate.
