Description
Ocho Extra Añejo is a single-estate tequila from the Camarena family's Tequila Ocho, known for treating tequila like a vintage-dated terroir spirit. Aged for an extended time in oak, it shows pale golden color and a spicy-sweet aroma with notes of poached pear and black pepper.
Extended barrel aging gives an extra añejo a deep, rounded character closer to a fine aged spirit than a typical tequila. Typical of the style, expect dark caramel, vanilla and toasted oak, dried fruit and baking spice, and a long, silky finish. It is meant to be savored slowly rather than mixed.
Serve neat in a snifter at room temperature, with a splash of water if you like, and take your time with it. Dark chocolate, aged cheese or a good cigar are classic partners.
