Description
WhistlePig Rye 15 Year is a 92 proof rye whiskey and the first WhistlePig bottling finished in Vermont Estate Oak, harvested from the brand's own farm. Vermont oak grows slowly and has more rings than standard American oak, which gives the wood more opportunity to add flavor during maturation.
The nose is deep and rich, with caramel, vanilla and oak plus hints of allspice and burnt orange. The palate is warm and slightly creamy, with butterscotch, baking spice, leather and a hint of tobacco, leading to an ultra-long, warm finish.
A whiskey for slow sipping, neat or with a few drops of water. It is also excellent as the base of a spirit-forward Manhattan.
