Description
Muckety-Muck is part of the Orphan Barrel series from Diageo's Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co., which brings older, forgotten stocks to market. This release is a 26-year-old single grain Scotch whisky, bottled at 92 proof. Single grain whisky is lighter and sweeter than most malts, and extended aging adds substantial oak character.
On the nose, expect honey, vanilla and dried fruit. The palate is soft and creamy, with sweet grain, light baking spice and gentle oak, leading to a smooth, lingering finish. It is a mellow style rather than a peaty or smoky one.
Sip it neat in a tulip glass at room temperature, with a small splash of water if you want to open the aromas further. Its age and rarity make it a talking point for collectors as well as a rewarding pour for patient sippers.
